Chris does a phenomenal job outlining how to improve your marathon time from start to finish. His approach prioritizes polarized training with higher intensity days sprinkled into low intensity aerobic training. This is a must read for any runner, especially those looking to run faster marathons!!

This book gets straight to the point with easy-to-understand takeaways that you can apply to your training today. Whether you want to crush your first 5k, get a PR on your next marathon and beyond. Did you know that you’re supposed to warm up before a race if you want to do your best? I’ve always just showed up a few minutes before to grab my bib and run.

I’ve read a lot of running books before but I’ve never read a book that has everything you need to know written so concisely. I may even incorporate some strength training at the end of my runs, finally!

If you a new to running or have been running your whole life and looking to improve, this is the book for you!

It is so nice to learn about training and knowledge from an experienced runner and running coach. This book discusses each of the phases in marathon training: base, speed work, long runs, taper, race, and recovery. There are examples of run workouts based on the weekly mileage. I gained some good insights to add to my marathon training after reading this.
