Hi, I’m Coach Chris Knighton

I am a USATF and NFHS certified online running coach based in Providence, Rhode Island.

I started Knighton Runs Marathon Coaching in 2019 while living in Boston, Massachusetts. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of helping over one-hundred athletes run new PR’s, earn their BQ, and feel better about their running than ever before.

As I kid growing up just south of Boston, I always dreamed of running the Boston Marathon. Although, when I first got into running, I quickly learned that not just anyone can run this race. That’s because it takes a seriously fast qualifying time in another marathon to even be considered for entry!

I realized that if I ever wanted to run a BQ time, I had to start taking my running seriously. But at that time, I honestly didn’t know what I was doing other than “just going out and running.” That’s why I decided to reach out to a trusted coach to help me train for my first marathon.

My coach taught me how to actually train like an athlete, not just a casual runner. I saw immediate results and the improvements I got kept coming and coming. I learned how to intelligently structure my training, put variation into the day-to-day, run my first speed workouts, complete long runs with ease, and build the confidence I needed to race to the best of my ability. She helped me not just BQ, but go far beyond that.

I started Knighton Runs Marathon Coaching to share the life-changing power that working together as an athlete and coach has with motivated adults like you.

I coach a team of passionate adults who live throughout the United States and overseas. No matter where you are located, my online run coaching is a proven formula for becoming the runner you always knew you could be.

I will help you feel the unique sense of accomplishment that only comes from working towards courageous athletic goals and give you the confidence that you are striving towards them in the right way.

Coach Chris is absolutely the best coach I’ve worked with. He’s specific and thoughtful in his approach to tailoring workouts for you, and he adjusts pacing/workouts daily as needed to help you achieve your absolute best. I’ve PR’d in every distance I’ve raced thus far! He’s also supportive and extremely encouraging. I can’t think of better attributes I’d wish for in coach and am extremely pleased with his coaching skill and knowledge. I would highly recommend him!

I've worked with Chris for several races (half marathons and marathons) and have had great results! I have PR'ed in both distances since working with him. His training plans are easy to follow and balanced between workouts and easy miles. He provides great advice on strength training and nutrition as well.

I’ve been working remotely with Chris since the summer - currently training for Berlin Marathon. He has been very supportive in getting me back on track, he’s responsive and easy to talk to. I feel more confident in my training since I started working with him and was surprised by my progress in a 10 mile race a few weeks ago!

I have only been working with Chris for a few months now. He’s been coaching me towards my goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon and since working with him and following the plans he’s made for me, I’ve PR’d almost every run I’ve done and I am within reach of my goal.
