“Always try to set the bar high!!! Just feels good to be pushing the body!”
Dan Cleary, Men’s Winner after running his mile.
The Catz II Lions Virtual Mile took place the weekend of June 12-14th in support of The Odd Cat Sanctuary and The Massachusetts Bail Fund.
Fifty-seven competitors from across the U.S.A and around the world toed the line to take on the most iconic challenge in running, the one-mile race.
Some racers were new runners challenging themselves to complete the distance, while others were chasing a new personal best. Records were broken, tears were shed, and glory was earned.
⠀
Seeing the photos come in with your smiling and exhausted faces truly inspired me. I was absolutely blown away by the support our community gave for the race. Together we raised a combined $600 for the Odd Cat Sanctuary and Massachusetts Bail Fund!
Many of our runners ran truly remarkable races. While there are too many stories to tell here, below are a few photos and highlights from the weekend!
Noteworthy Performances
Dan Cleary of South Boston, MA claimed the men’s gold medal with a blisteringly fast time of 4:45.
Emily Ullmann of South End, Boston, MA earned her right to the woman’s medal by running her mile in just 5:35.
Grace Scarbrough, of Essex, MA ran to the top of the hotly contested 0-12 age group with a time of 7:18. Her soccer career is preparing her well for a future on the track team.
Elena Cerjanec of Freeport, ME took to the streets for the first time in years and with the help of a friend ran into the top position in the 20-24F age group with 12:48.
Jason Pollutro joined the fastest group of fifteen runners who clocked under 6:00 and earned the 45-49M age group win along the way.
The running community is truly great.
This event showed that we can push ourselves while making a positive change in the world.
