Determine your training and racing paces

Here at Knighton Runs, we love Jack Daniels’ VDOT Running Calculator for estimating your training paces, workout paces, race paces, and finish times.

Coach Chris believes training at or just below your current level of fitness is the best approach for most runners. This lets your fitness naturally rise as you build a strong foundation, rather than trying to force your fitness upward with the tight pull of a few killer workouts.

Enter your most recent race result and you will get appropriate training paces for you. The calculator will also estimate how fast you can run other race distances if you are properly trained for that distance. Do not exceed these paces in training.

You can also use the calculator to determine how temperature and altitude will affect your pacing with an equivalent effort-level.

After every race, come back to this calculator and plug in your result to update your training paces.
