About Knighton Runs Youth Running Program

The Knighton Runs Youth Running Program fosters an inclusive running community by inspiring and nurturing a love of running among young people in the Providence, Rhode Island area and Southern Massachusetts.

Youth lessons with Knighton Runs will help build a solid foundation for your young runner. Emphasis will be put on proper running form and mechanics, building endurance and speed, and improving technique. 

Youth lessons with Knighton Runs will help build endurance and speed and improve technique. Your son or daughter will learn how to run the right way, including critical developmental skills like:

  • Improving their running form and coordination
  • Improving their running speed, strength, and endurance
  • Improving their ability to pace themselves and implement race strategies
  • Improving their mental skills of focus, perspective, and dedication

Each 60-minute session will be custom-tailored to your son or daughter’s needs but typically includes:

  • Full Dynamic Warm-Up Routine with Running Form Drills
  • Challenging and Fun Running Workout Led by Coach Erica
  • A Full Cooldown Routine with Post-Run Strength and Stretching
  • Opportunities Throughout for Coach Erica to Answer Questions and Give Advice

Who are these Private Running Lessons for?

Private lessons are offered for all levels and abilities. My private running lessons are perfect for boys and girls aged 10 to 18 in the Providence, Rhode Island area. I typically provide lessons for middle and high school athletes competing in cross country or track & field, but I also offer private running lessons for younger children.

While I offer private running lessons year-round, lessons are incredibly helpful during:

  • Summer break before cross-country
  • Winter before track season
  • School vacation weeks

Spring sessions take place on the track, while Summer and Fall sessions focus on preparing for the Cross Country season.

About Coach Erica Knighton

I am a lifelong runner and co-owner of Knighton Runs Coaching, based in Providence, Rhode Island. I help passionate middle school and high school athletes reach their full potential.

I’ve been coaching since 2019 at the high school, adult, and youth levels. As the Head Cross Country and Track and field coach at St. Mary Academy—Bay View in Riverside, Rhode Island. I led the Indoor Team to its first Division Championship in over 20 years in my first season. I’ve helped numerous athletes reach the Rhode Island State Championship, New England Championship, New Balance, Nike, and Adidas Youth Nationals.

A native of Providence, Rhode Island, I competed for the Barrington High School Cross Country and Track teams before attending Syracuse University. After college, I took on the marathon, qualifying and competing in two Boston Marathons, the Chicago Marathon and, most recently, the Philadelphia Marathon. I have over 20 years of experience training and racing at a high level.

I can help your son or daughter become the best runner they can be.

Pricing

Private Running Lessons are $85 per 60-minute session and $100 per 75-minute lesson. Special rates are available when you pre-pay for 3 or more sessions and long-term commitments.
