Welcome! I’m Coach Erica Knighton

I am a lifelong runner and co-owner of Knighton Runs Coaching, based in Providence, Rhode Island. I help passionate middle school and high school athletes reach their full potential.

I’ve been coaching since 2019 at the high school, adult, and youth levels. As the Head Cross Country and Track & Field coach at St. Mary Academy – Bay View in Riverside, Rhode Island, I led the Indoor Team to its first Division Championship in over 20 years in my first season. I’ve helped numerous athletes reach the New England Championship and achieve All-State Honors. My husband, Chris, and I own Knighton Runs Coaching to support athletes at all levels of the sport.

As a youth, I competed in both the State Championship and New England Championship for the Barrington High School team in Rhode Island. After attending Syracuse University, I took on the marathon, qualifying and competing in two Boston Marathons and one Chicago Marathon. I have over 20 years of experience training and racing at a high level.

Who are these Private Running Lessons for?

My private running lessons are perfect for boys and girls aged 10 to 18.

I typically provide lessons for middle school and high-school athletes who will be competing in cross country or track & field, but also offer private running lessons for younger children.

While I offer private running lessons year-round, lessons are incredibly helpful during:

  • summer vacation before cross country
  • winter before track season
  • school vacation weeks

Private Running Lessons with Coach Erica include:

  • Coach Erica will meet with your son or daughter for a private running lesson.

  • Private running lessons are available 7-days per week and year-round with advanced scheduling.

  • Meet in a great and safe running location in Providence, Rhode Island or within a 30-minute drive
    (further driving time available for an added fee.)

  • Your son or daughter will learn how to run the right way, including important developmental skills like:

    – improving their running form and coordination.

    – improving their running speed, strength, and endurance.

    – improving their ability to pace themselves and implement race strategies.

    – improving their mental skills of focus, perspective, and dedication.

  • Each 60-minute session will be custom-tailored to your boy or girl’s needs but typically includes:

    • Full Dynamic Warm-Up Routine with Running Form Drills

    • Challenging and Fun Running Workout Led by Coach Erica

    • A Full Cooldown Routine with Post-Run Strength and Stretching

    • Opportunities Throughout for Coach Erica to Answer Questions and Give Advice
