So, I purchased Coach Chris’s marathon training plan (50MPW) with the goal of running 10 minutes under my BQ qualifying time (age 60-64). I moved through the first three phases of the plan with little difficulty, then began the last phase with MP tempo runs (mid-week or long runs). By the time I was ready to taper, I could feel the positive effects of the training plan and, with that, confidence for running my marathon. As it happened, Coach Chris’s plan had me more ready than I could have imagined! I easily kept my MP throughout, running nearly even splits through mile 23. I ran the last 3 miles at a pace more than 15 seconds faster than my MP. I crossed the finish line with a 9+ minute personal best, 11+ minutes under my BQ time, and first in my age. (And my recovery has been so much better than last year!) I look forward to Coach Chris helping me prepare for Boston 2026!
